Junior researchers from the higher education institution members of the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Health Research and Development (NorMinCoHRD) received online training and mentoring workshop from the consortium’s very own trainers.

The training on Basic Research Methods focuses on enhancing the capacities of young researchers in producing quality health research proposals for possible funding by the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD). Twenty researchers who were able to identify 10 health research problems including COVID-19 related researchers attended the training on July 13-17, 2020.

Workshop on Research Proposal Development followed the BRM training on August 18-20, 2020. Fourteen (14) out of 20 participants proceeded to the mentoring workshop and developed eight (8) research studies. The participants then refined these studies into full-blown health research proposals.

Participants of the training came from Capitol University (CU), Central Mindanao University (CMU), Iligan Medical Center College (IMCC), Liceo de Cagayan University (LDCU), Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), and Xavier University (XU).

The trainers were Dr. Peter R. Orbase of CMU, Dr. Ester L. Raagas of XU, and Dr. Fidela B. Ansale of CU.

An evaluation by the Technical Review Board will follow after the submission of the participants’ revised proposal. It is with eager anticipation that these health researches will pass PCHRD’s funding to expand opportunities in good health for the Filipinos.
