IMCC Researcher Presents Study in Florida, USA

Dindo Donald A. Manulat, Jr., the Research and Publication Officer of Iligan Medical Center College (IMCC), presented his study entitled “Implementation Barriers of Carbon Management Technologies of Industries in Northern Mindanao” during the Carbon Management Technology Conference 2012 at the Caribe Royale Hotel and Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, USA last February 7-9, 2012. The said conference was sponsored by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers-USA (IEEE-USA), The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS), Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration Inc. (SME), and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). The event gathered around 300 international researchers and scientists in all fields of engineering who are to provide views on carbon emissions reduction and climate change mitigation.

Mr. Manulat’s study was presented on the Workforce Development session which was chaired by Arnold Feldman of JJDS Environmental and Tom Meyer of ESCO Group. The same session with him are two other papers namely “Carbon Management Education: Making Supply Meet Demand” by Baumann, Gillenwater, and Stumhofer of the Greenhouse Gas Management Insitute and “Global Climate Change Technology Education” by Dr. Greenwald of the New York Institute of Technology.

“The essence of research is to help the community.” Mr. Manulat quoted. “And showing it to the world is the first step.”

Mr. Manulat also co-authored a study entitled “Air Pollution as Health Hazard: The Mindanao Perception” with Imelda dela Rama, a graduate student in Environmental Planning and Management of Liceo de Cagayan University and Jasmin Sumagang, a nurse from the Department of Health (DOH)-RNHeals. The paper is accepted for oral presentation for the 7th International Conference on the Impact of Environmental Factors on Health in Budapest, Hungary on April 23-25, 2013.
